My Fave Time Management Technique For Getting Things Done
Words By: Margaret Galang, YMF Founder
We all know it’s not about having the time, it’s about making the time. Now we can’t literally create more time but we can manage it in a way that allows us to get more things done. Everybody has the same 24 hours, the only difference is that some know how to use their time more effectively and efficiently than others. I feel like time management skills is something they should teach us in pre-natal classes (lol), because no one really tells us how we go about juggling our lives once kids come into the picture! Anyways, here is a time management technique that I have learned and use quite often. It has really helped me focus and get things done a lot more efficiently.
The Pomodoro Technique
Pick one task you want to get done.
Set a timer for 25 minutes.
Focus purely on that one task (without getting distracted with anything else) for the entire 25 minutes.
If the task takes more time, take a 5 minute break and repeat another 25 minutes.
I must admit, I am one to get distracted easily and start doing something while I’m in the middle of doing something else! So when I do the Pomodoro Technique I get rid of all distractions (my phone mainly haha). The reason why this technique works so well is because it allows you to have razor sharp focus on the one task compared to juggling many different tasks. I find I get things done so much quicker and usually before the 25 minutes is up. Give this a go and see if it works for you!
