What Do You Love About Being a Mum?
Words By: Margaret Galang, YMF Founder
There’s a lot to write about the challenges of motherhood and it’s easy to voice just how hard it is. Well, because let’s face it, it IS so damn hard! I’d like to say it only gets easier, but just when you think you’ve come out of a difficult phase with your children, they move onto another one which is just as difficult (if not more). From what I’ve heard, this goes on for the rest of their lives! It can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes, so I’m taking the opportunity this week to have an open discussion about all the things you love about being a mum! It is Christmas time after all, so happy positive vibes are in order!
Here are some of the reasons why I love being a mum…
#1: First thing that comes to mind is this time of year – Christmas! Christmas is always a fun time but after you have kids, it takes it to a whole other level, like it’s been supercharged! The pure joy and excitement they have about anything and everything to do with Christmas makes me very grateful to be a parent. I love doing all the family activities like going to see Christmas carols and driving around looking at houses with Christmas lights, and I have Christmas carols playing in the car for the entire month of December lol.
#2: I love watching them grow and become these little human beings who have their own lives and friends and personalities. Yes, I am one of those mums that get teary every time I watch my child at a school concert haha. They are always just so amazed at themselves of the things they can accomplish and it’s always a humbling feeling knowing that I had something to do with that!
#3: I love being a role model to my kids. I feel like it makes me want to be the best person I can be, because that makes me the best mum I can be for them. I definitely don’t get it right all the time, but that doesn’t stop me continuing to try :)
These are just some of the reasons why I love being a mum! Now it’s your turn, tell me what you love about being a mum? Head over to our Facebook or Instagram and let’s share some of the positive experiences of motherhood!
