The daily task of getting ready in the morning is definitely not my favourite time of the day. Kids don’t seem to have any concept of time so I find the morning routine to always be somewhat of a challenge. We don’t have much spare time in the morning so I’ve worked out all the possible ways I can save myself time and have implemented it into our routine. Here are some of my time saving tips…
Make lunches the night before
Everything gets packed into their lunch boxes and stored in the fridge, so all I have to do the next morning is put a fresh ice pack in and away it goes into their school bags. (I even fill up their water bottles and put it in their bags the night before!)
Find pre-made breakfast recipes
I mainly do this for my breakfast (although sometimes for the kids too). I have a current obsession with overnight oats, so that’s my go-to breakfast that I can prepare the night before and it’s ready for me in the morning. Click here for some overnight oat recipes.
Lay out clothes the night before
Pick out what you’re wearing for the next day, and what your kids need to wear, and lay them out so they are ready to be put on in the morning. If your kids are old enough, it’ll be much quicker for them to get dressed if their clothes are already laid out rather than going through their wardrobe searching for clothes.
If you set an alarm, don’t press the snooze button! And who’s guilty of lying in bed and scrolling through social media? (me!)
